Meet Our Pastor:

Dr. Joey Durham

Pastor Durham was born and raised in Pickens, SC and was saved at the age of eleven under the ministry of his Dad at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Sunset, SC. God called Pastor Durham to preach shortly after he graduated from Pickens High School, and he delivered his first message on the steps of the Pickens County Courthouse, street preaching with some preachers from the church he attended. In 1986, Pastor Durham married his wife, Barbara, and they have three children and seven grandchildren.

In April, 1999, Pastor Durham graduated from West End Baptist Bible College in Easley, SC, with a Master's Degree in Theology. In 2015, he graduated from Andersonville Theological Seminary with a Doctorate in Theology Degree. Pastor Durham began full time ministry in 2001, and he has pastored the Sturgis Baptist Church in Sturgis, KY and Whispering Pines Baptist Church in Hartsville, SC.

In October 2017, Pastor Durham accepted the call to pastor the Open Bible Baptist Church. He, and his wife Barbara, moved to Sumter, SC with the desire to honor the Lord and continue the legacy of the great men of God, who has pastored this church before him. It is the heart's desire of Pastor Joey Durham to serve his Lord and Saviour, the precious people of his flock, and also reach out to our Sumter community with the glorious gospel of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
